Criteria & Category Information

Any individual, business or organization that is a member of the Shenango Valley Chamber of

Commerce may submit nominations for any or all of the Phoenix Recognition Awards.

Nominations are based on the performance of the nominees for the calendar year January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024. Nominations must be submitted no later than September 30, 2025.

 

To be eligible for nomination for any of the Phoenix Awards, an individual, business or

organization must be a member of the in the Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce. Please use the website online to check for current members under the Membership tab. You may nominate an individual/business/organization for more than one award category, but a business can only win one.

 

Award Categories:

 

New Business Startup Award

In recognition of economic/community growth in a recently established business (6 – 36 months) in all business sectors and with any number of employees or for any company or organization that acts as a catalyst for new business startup.

 

Innovation Award

In recognition of efforts to community/economic and/or employee growth through diversification or product / service development. Includes all business sectors and all levels of employment.

 

Growth Manufacturing

Recognizes sales and employee growth in the manufacturing field. Sales and employee growth must be represented in the local market area. Growth comparisons encompass comparisons between the previous calendar year and the year prior. (2025 awards are 2023 vs 2024)

 

Growth Service

Recognizes business development growth and expansion that positively impacts the community –emphasizing innovation in process as well as improvement in service. Service can be either for-profit or non-profit. Growth and/or expansion must be represented in the local market area. Expansion can be standalone if there is significant financial investment. Growth comparisons are reserved for comparisons between the previous calendar year and the year prior. (2025 awards are 2023 vs 2024)

 

Growth Business

Recognizes business sales and/or employee growth. Sales and/or employee growth must be

represented in the local market area. Growth Business encompasses for-profits whose employment levels have increased or increased their business sales. Sales comparisons are reserved for comparisons between the previous calendar year and the year prior.

Beautification Award

Recognizes a business or organization that contributes to the community pride of the Shenango Valley through continued property maintenance, facade renovation, facility improvements or expansion, etc.

 

Non-Profit / Service Organization Award

Recognizes a Non-Profit/Service organization that exemplifies dedication to the community and the clients it serves. Its mission must be consistent with improving the overall quality of the community and clients in the Mercer County area.
