Chamber News...
Even in these uncertain economic times, we have many, many, things to be thankful for right here in our community. If you recently attended our Phoenix Award Ceremony, held this past May 20th then you will have a hint of what I am about to say. Our members enjoyed a first class event recognizing businesses and organizations who are members of the Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce. The New Business Start-Up Award was presented to Precision Manufacturing Institute (PMI). This training facility is a significant factor in the future of manufacturing and workforce development here in our region. The Entrepreneur Award was presented to Laurel Technical Institute, which specializes in associate degrees, diploma programs, and professional certifications for a variety of industries. The Innovation Award was given to Reynolds Services, Inc. This family owned and operated business in Greenville, Pennsylvania has grown from 10 to 70 employees in our area with additional facilities located across the country. The Growth-Large Manufacturing Award was presented to G.W. Becker, Inc. who employs approximately 50 full time employees and specialize in custom built-up designed cranes and hoists. In addition, they offer field repair services and inspections, engineering surveys and studies on both cranes and runways and parts distribution for all makes and models of overhead cranes and hoists. Growth-Small Service Award was given to Reinhardt’s Agency, Inc. who represents a wide array of high quality top insurance carriers servicing western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio businesses, homes, autos and individuals. They believe in providing “one policy at a time” service as they grow into the future. The Growth Large Service Award went to Quaker Steak & Lube who employs 175 people from our local area. Originating in Sharon back in 1974, QS&L began franchising in 1997 and now has over 30 locations throughout the United States and Canada. The Non-Profit/Service Organization Award was presented to Grace Chapel Community Church whose mission is to serve the needs of the community and to build loving relationships with God and others. The Beautification (Community Pride) Award went to Shenango Valley Meat and Poultry who pride themselves in personal service and friendships with their customers in their full service retail meat shop. These award winners represent growth, diversity and such pride for our Valley! You and I know them personally, and you know that they are sincere and committed business owners who have invested in our hometown. Now you know why I began this letter by saying: “we have many, many things to be thankful for right here in our community!” We should support these award winners as Chamber members and congratulate them for their continued successes! It is not too early to be thinking about next year’s nominees! Take a look in our Chamber Directory at all of the wonderful businesses and keep in mind, next year is right around the corner! Best wishes and continued success to all of our winners!!!! Angie Palumbo, President |
