Chamber Committees...Members not only add to their personal and professional growth, they help enrich the Shenango Valley Chamber and the community. Community Affairs CouncilsThe Shenango Valley is made up of seven municipalities, each represented by a Community Affairs Council. These councils meet and address issues and concerns for their respective community. These councils provide excellent networking opportunities. TransportationA wide variety of issues are on the agenda of this council. It is concerned about ground, rail, and air transportation as they relate to both business and to the general public. Items discussed range from the I-80 and PA 60 interchange to railroad crossings to widening of intersections for ease of turning to traffic signals at high volume intersections. A representative of PennDOT sits on this council. Economic & Government AffairsTheEconomic & Government Affairs Council meets with area legislators, representatives of economic development organizations, and local business leaders in an attempt to facilitate and support efforts to enhance the growth of area businesses; the emphasis of the council is commercial business growth however it does support the efforts of other groups towards manufacturing growth. Special EventsPromotions/Special Events committee coordinates the Chamber's annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon, Christmas Luncheon, Ladies Golf Scramble, and the Annual Business Expo. This committee also focuses on retail and promoting tourism within the Shenango Valley. In addition, the group collaborates with the Mercer County Convention & Visitor's Bureau. TechnologyThis committee is concerned with the promotions of e-business relative to the Shenango Valley. The committee monitors the growing industry trends and laws governing the internet as well as addresses the effectiveness of the Chamber's web site.
Meeting ScheduleAll meetings are at noon at Chamber member restaurants, September through May.
