The Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced that they have entered into an agreement with the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce to contract for Management Services. Under this agreement, the Lawrence County Chamber’s Executive Director, Robert McCracken, will also serve as the Shenango Valley Chamber Executive Director.
The motivation behind entering into this unique management arrangement was driven by two factors: economics and combined strength. In these financial times, supporting a fulltime Executive Director can be cost prohibitive. More importantly, combining the leadership allows the two Chambers to more effectively lobby for their members.
‘To be clear, this is not a merger,’ SVC President Angela Palumbo stated. ‘The Shenango Valley and Lawrence County Chambers will continue as independent organizations,’ she said. The noticeable change that members will see is increased opportunities to help their businesses and organizations. Networking, education and legislative influence becomes greater when you create a pathway between two strong organizations.
‘As a board the first question we asked was how does it benefit our members,’ Lawrence County Chamber President Guy Natale stated. ‘Sharing the expense of an executive director allows us to contain costs, maintain programming and avoid dues increases’ Natale continued.
